How to Research Facebook Like a Pro (and Make Content That Actually Connects)

How to Research Facebook Like a Pro (and Make Content That Actually Connects)

Welcome to the Facebook section of your Front Runners Social Media Strategy Workbook! 🎉💬

Look — we know Facebook doesn’t always get the hype of TikTok or Instagram. But here’s the deal: it’s still one of the most powerful platforms for community, conversation, and conversions — if you know how to use it.

This isn’t about posting random memes or hoping Grandma shares your video.
This is about strategy — the kind that makes your brand stand out in a sea of baby photos and neighborhood drama.

Ready? Let’s break it down.

🕵️♀️ Step 1: Build Your Inspiration List

Hop on Facebook and search for Pages similar to yours — same niche, vibe, audience, or product.

👉 On the first two workbook pages, brain dump:

  • Page name or handle (e.g., @bestbakeryever)
  • Quick description (what do they post?)
  • Total followers

This gives you a research pool of creators and brands to analyze and learn from.

✂️ Step 2: Narrow It Down to 5 Key Pages

From your list, select 5 Pages for a deep dive.

âś… One with under 2,000 followers (small but promising)
✅ One with 50k–100k followers (mid-size and growing)
âś… One with 1M+ followers (heavy hitter)

This range shows youwhat’s working across growth stages — gold for shaping your own Facebook content strategy.

🔍 Step 3: Audit Their Page Like an Expert

Here’s what to look at:

  • Profile picture — Logo? Headshot? Brand mark?
  • Cover photo — Big branding opportunity. What’s their visual message?
  • Intro keywords — What’s in their bio? Are they using niche words, CTAs, or taglines?
  • Likes + followers — Note both (yes, they’re different).
  • Overall vibe — Professional? Playful? Community-focused? Edgy?
  • Instagram cross-posting — Check: what percentage of their Facebook posts are also on Instagram? Are they posting identical content or tailoring for the platform?

📊 Step 4: Analyze Posting Habits

Scroll back 30 days and count:

  • Photos (P)
  • Videos (V)
  • Graphics (G)
  • Other (O) — Polls, events, shares, etc.
  • Lives (L)

👉 Add them up and log it in the Total Posts (Last 30 Days) box.
This helps you see not just frequency but content mix — key for planning your own schedule.

🌟 Step 5: Deep Dive Into Top-Performing Content

Scroll through and pick their top 3 most-engaged posts. For each:

  • Describe the thumbnail/image — What’s grabbing attention?
  • Note the hook — First line, headline, or visual.
  • Check the caption — What’s the angle? Are they asking questions, telling stories, or pitching offers?
  • Ask: What’s the purpose? Education, entertainment, sales, connection?
  • Write down any standout details — hashtags, emojis, calls-to-action, collabs.

This is where you uncover why people are stopping, clicking, and sharing.

📝 Step 6: Fill Out the Overview Page

Once you’ve audited all 5 Pages, head to your Workbook Overview Page and summarize:

  • Total posts (30 days)
  • Percentage of cross-posted Instagram content
  • Percentage of Facebook-original content
  • Channel vibe
  • Biggest takeaways

Now you’ve got a snapshot of what works on Facebook today.

🚀 Step 7: Shape YOUR Page Strategy

Now flip the focus.

👉 Write down your 5 biggest takeaways. Maybe it’s:

  • Launching a video series
  • Mixing in more graphics or polls
  • Posting community-driven stories
  • Timing when you introduce sales posts
  • Creating content that feeds off Instagram but still feels Facebook-native

For the visual thinkers, there are blank post templates in the workbook — sketch your post ideas, layout designs, or video storyboards.

âś… Step 8: Hit the Checkpoint

Let’s map your plan:

  • What’s your 30-day posting goal? (Break it down by type: Photos, Videos, Graphics, Other, Lives)
  • What percentage will be Facebook-original content vs. Instagram cross-posts?
  • What’s your channel vibe?
  • What will your bio/description say?
  • What content programs or series will you run?

And don’t forget the four blank boxes where you can brainstorm any updates to:

  • Brand identity
  • Tone
  • Voice
  • Target audience

Because great Facebook strategy isn’t just about what you post — it’s about how you show up as a brand.

đź’ˇ Final Word

Facebook might feel old-school, but its power is anything but. With the right strategy, creativity, consistency, and audience insights, you can turn your Page into a real community hub.

With this process, you’re not just another Page hoping for likes — you’re a front runner, building engagement, trust, and growth.

So go on: scroll smart, post smart, and let Facebook work for you. 💥💬🚀
